Professor Dr Jeffrey Johnson is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of VSL. He has extensive experience in research and industry over many years. He is a chartered mathematician and a chartered software engineer. He is Professor of Complexity Science and Design at the Open University. He has wide research interests including: complex systems, simulation, machine vision, robotics, hypernetworks, agent-based modelling, transportation systems, scalable education, non-equilibrium social science  and policy applications of complex systems. He believes that pure research in complex systems must be situated in applications. Vision Scientific Ltd bridges academic research and applications in the public and private sectors. He is a partner in the European Erasmus DA.RE Project.

Dr Cristian Jimenez-Romero is the Scientific lead and Head of Software Development with VSL. He is a researcher and innovator working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, complex systems, and nature-inspired computing. His work focuses on developing new computational models that enhance efficiency, memory, and adaptability in machine learning, drawing inspiration from biological and physical processes. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher within the EUTOPIA-SIF programme, where he explores hybrid neural network architectures, swarm intelligence, and agent-based simulations integrated with AI. Previously, he contributed to the Human Brain Project (HBP), where he was involved in the development of the Neurorobotics Platform (NRP), and he also collaborated in the design of Etoile, a European online education platform integrating peer evaluation and reputation systems. Cristian has lived and worked in Colombia, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, building an international perspective that bridges academic research, technological innovation, and societal impact. His current interests include advancing energy-efficient AI technologies, as well as exploring the broader connections between artificial intelligence, natural systems, and consciousness. He represented VSL on the European Erasmus DA.RE Project.

Ben Humphrey is Commercial Director with VSL. He has sales and marketing experience with several FTSE 100 companies including Kingfisher and Unilever. His responsibilities include developing commercial strategy, dealing with clients and day to day management.

Dr David Rodrigues is Senior Research and Development Specialist with VSL. His research interests include: Hypernetworks,   Network Science, Social Networks,  Synchronization Phenomena,  Symmetry,  Community Detection,  Cellular Automata,  Emergence  and  Stigmergy. He works across the company's range of applications. He is expert in the design of web-based systems incorporating large data sets and distributed processing. David is also a research Fellow in Mathematics, Computing and Technology at the Open University.

Professor Dr Paul Bourgine is Visiting Professor in Complex Systems Science with Etoile Project at the Open University and a senior researcher at Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. He is expert in many fields including mathematics and biology. He works with VSL on the application of our machine vision techniques to biological imaging research, and also on the application of the VSL Peer Marking Systems to provide free support for teaching and research in the complex systems community.
